Troops Ready to Defend

Crossfire War - RAPID FIRE NEWS=TEHRAN - DAMASCUS - BEIRUT WATCH - West Asia - North-Northeast Africa Theatre: Tehran - Riyadh - Tripoli - Khartoum - Amman - Ankara - Baghdad - Damascus - Beirut/Jerusalem - Paris - Rome - London - Washington - Cairo; Syria Places Civil Defense Services on Alert - Mobilizes Reserves in Preparation for War with Israel - Georgia Pres. Saakashvili States 250,000 Troops Ready to Defend Against "External Threats" - Russia

Night Watch: Mt. Hermon - Debka's military sources have reported on October 9, Tuesday, the order was given by the Syrian Government to place its civil defenses in a state of preparedness and to mobilize its military reserves. Government and military hospitals have also been placed on alert and there has been no reduction of Syrian military units near Israel's border on the Golan Heights and Mt. Hermon. Thursday Defense Minister General Hassan Turkmani stated the country's armed forces were in a state of "readiness to withstand all aggression." The day before Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Ali Habib said, "Syria is capable of beating off any conspiracies." This confirms my suspicions the fighting will increase in this regional theatre and others right after Ramadan, which ends this weekend, the holy war month Muslims, use to inspire more hatred against non-Muslim people. [DEBKA]

To prepare the Islamic world for (f)allout fighting in this regional theatre Syria President Bashar al-Assad gave an interview to the Tunisian paper Al-Shorouk and this is the explanation Tehran-Damascus will continue to present. Assad stated, "I am working on the premise that the Americans will attack Iran. We are facing a force, which has no respect for international laws and values, exactly as in Iraq. The United States backs the enemy Israel absolutely, which prevents us from perceiving the US in any other light that an enemy. I cannot play games of anticipation. I must be ready for any US or Israeli operation against Iran or Syria." This is an extremely precise, calculated statement designed for maximum psychological impact on the Muslim population even those who are more nationalistic and secular than religious. It deliberately portrays Washington's regional policy as criminally offensive and having devastated Iraq now intends to do the same to Syria-Iran in support of Israel.

In reality, Tehran-Damascus will have Palestinian militant groups in Gaza-West Bank increase their rocket-mortar attacks on Israel and as Jerusalem responds, Hezbollah enters the war with the full support of Lebanon's military. Tehran-Damascus then enter the conflict and the regional war will then become (f)allout and intended to inspire more Islamic radicalism especially in Egypt targeting President Hosni Mubarak who has always hated Islamic radicalism ever since extremists assassinated his predecessor Anwar al-Sadat in October 1981, just two years after the Islamic Revolution in Iran led by the Ayatollah Khomeini. Tehran named a street after the assassin. Mubarak will declare war on Iran before he is overthrown, surrounded by governments which support the Jihad, Tripoli-Khartoum-Riyadh. The West will be powerless to help him since the European forces in UNIFIL-south Lebanon and the ashes of their regional policies will surround London-Washington in Iraq.

Tbilisi - RIA reports Georgia President Mikhai Saakashvili made this statement regarding his government's military standoff with Russia, while he was visiting Finland, "There is no U.S.S.R any more but the threat exists and if need be, Georgia will be able to deploy 250,000 soldiers tomorrow." Tehran-Ankara have increased their support of Tbilisi for the past two years in the hope Moscow will experience another defeat as in the mid-1990s against Islamic groups in the North Caucasus, Islamic units supported by Iran-Turkey. This region is a crossroads of energy pipelines and Islamic governments intend to deny industry in the West-Russia access to the resources. But Russian armed forces are better led and trained under President Vladimir Putin and Moscow has been testing vacuum bombs more powerful than nuclear ones. To assist Russia, Berlin-Washington sent former U. S. Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger to Moscow, in late April, to co-chair the Strategic Working Group with former Russia Premier Yevgeny Primakov and that is why Russia's strategic bombers have been practicing joint operations with air forces in the West. [RIA]

Only when Tehran realizes Moscow cannot be defeated here will Iran then enter into serious negotiations to end this war. Since Tehran is directing most of its war effort against the West, its main international rival and against India in support of Pakistan and the Muslims in Kashmir, support of Georgia is the extent of Tehran's opposition to Russia.
